An unbelievably fast read, this small book is a sweet Norse fairy tale about a boy called Odd who becomes friends with a bear who isn't really a bear and then other stuff happens, but you should read it to find out what.

Two stars for the read -- some day I might understand what the world sees in Gaiman -- and an additional star for Loki, who is worth the price of admission no matter where he appears. If I could give stars for the illustrations the number would be somewhere well below zero.

This short book was a lot of fun. It's familiar and cozy, like a worn book that has been sitting on the cluttered shelf in the living room for years, picked up during a power outage or a rainy day. I'd love to read more about Odd and his adventures.

A really good fairy tale int eh Gaiman style, but with pictures by Hellquist, not so disturbing.

why: how can I resist the combo of Neil Gaiman and Norse mythology? I'm hoping this might work for my son. gaiman is usually pretty dark though.

Another nice little Gaiman story, making clever use of Norse Mythology - especially the snide remarks about Loki and a certain stallion ;-) - but in a style typically his own. Quite an enjoyable little read.

I found this book at Tescos being sold for £1. I was intrigued as I had seen Mr Gaiman's handiwork on the big screen. As it turns out, this book had been printed for World Book Day 2008. What a shame, I didn't have my token with me.I got home and, whilst waiting for a particular television programme...
