At 73 years old, Simon Gandolfi sets off from Veracruz on the Gulf of Mexico to embark on a five and a half month journey culminating at Ushuaia 'the end of the world' in Tierra del Fuego. In this epic journey south he crosses mountains, rain forest, desert and Altiplano on his 125cc motorbike, experiencing the colourful cultures, spectacular scenery and often severe climate of Latin America.
For Simon this is a journey of discovery. Leaving behind the safety and sanctuary of friends and family, he is truly alone but along the way he meets and talks with rich and poor, old and young, officials and professionals, agricultural and industral workers. He is fascinated by their stories of politics, poverty and corruption and in Old Man on a Bike he faithfully records their opinions for theirs are stories, waiting to be heard.
