This manhwa deals with the lives of adolescents; their family problems, which emerge and are eventually resolved; and the social problems they face within the Korean school system. It accomplishes this by focusing on the everyday life of an ordinary elementary school girl who lives in Seoul, in the early 1980’s.

Storyline:
Soo-in, an ordinary girl and model student, encounters several changes in her life: Her mother starts working in place of her father, who has recently lost his job. She notices herself blushing in front of a boy who has always been her rival. And she starts sharing secrets with a troublemaker whom she always considered from another world.

Artist_ Hong Jiheun
Hong Jiheun was a double major in religious studies and media studies at Sogang University in Seoul, South Korea. Though she has dabbled in a variety of careers—from assistant director in broadcasting, to background director of animation, to freelance illustrator—she has now set herself entirely on being a full-time manhwa artist.

Episode 2. Dad in the Tent
The previous roles of the parents have changed, and the kids seem to have no problem adapting. Soo-in's dad, however, is having a hard time getting used to his new life. He sees faults in his children that he never noticed before, gets annoyed, and starts nagging at them. He begins seeing their weaknesses—“You’re Korean! You’re not supposed to water down your Kimchi!” as well as their carelessness—“You shouldn’t watch TV while eating. Focus on your food!” Finally, he discovers the strange collection belonging to Jane, and makes a big fuss over it.

Characters:
Soo-in: Soo-in is a 6th grader who is “intelligent, well-mannered, and exemplary.” She is proud and at the same time, ashamed, of such a reputation. She seems ordinary, but inside, she has deep thoughts and a world all her own.

Jane: Soo-in’s little sister. She hardly expresses any feelings. Nobody knows whether she does this because she can’t, or she won’t, but she always uses the minimum number of words to get her point across. Jane is the type of girl who might come back home because she can’t find her homeroom, who would get on any random bus just because her feet hurt, and who likes to gather strange and mysterious objects for her collection. Though her family members don’t say it aloud, all of them wonder what her IQ is.

Ho-in: Soo-in’s little brother. As the youngest member of the family, he knows how to be cute and how to insist his way into getting whatever he wants.

Dad: Even though he regularly says it's a waste of time for girls to get an education, he becomes furious when Soo-in ranks second in her class, or when a boy does better than her. Although he tells his friends that raising a daughter is more rewarding than raising a boy, he turns around and declares that only his son will inherit the family property. He feels bad for his wife, who started working because he lost his job, but he doesn’t help much in the way of housework. He has a philosophy that the children should be raised strictly, yet when he scolds them, he feels so bad afterward that he gets stomach cramps. In other words, he is a dad of many contradictions.

Mom: She is a prideful woman. Even when the family is struck by tremendous hardship, she doesn’t sway all that much. Most of the time she is patient and wise; however, once she gets upset, her anger lasts for a long time, so everyone has to beware.

Sang-il: Notorious for making trouble not only in his class, but throughout the whole school. Even the homeroom teacher and school guard have a hard time controlling him. Yet for some reason, Sang-il has a soft spot for Soo-in.
