In the future, humanity colonizes Mars and kills or enslaves the native population. And since the first people there are from America and they are reminded of particular period of their history - and more importantly, their creative culture - they decide to set Mars up as though it was the Old West ...

First Tezuka and man... BLACK JACK is something else. It was little cartoony at first and, considering the Manga I've been reading, threw me off a bit. But once I got into it, it's really great. Deep, dark, humorous, witty... Something else man. Have to read it to really understand it.

I can honestly say that I have no idea how the heck this book was the manga that ‘started’ the shounen manga or inspired manga artists with their successful shounen series such as Dragon Ball. This manga is just kinda out there that I have absolutely no idea how I was going to rate this. First off...

So, this is where I gave up on this series. One of the perils of being incredibly awesome is that if you start to be marginally less awesome, you get judged pretty harshly for it. If I'd started a new manga series written and drawn at the level of this volume of Black Jack, I would love it. This is n...

This volume is another one of those that didn't really do it for me. I mean, there's no such thing as a BAD volume of Black Jack in my opinion. But the stories in this definitely feel a bit... less? Than their previous counterparts. I didn't feel like I was seeing as much of Black Jack in a lot of t...

I love the episodic nature of this manga, but I think I enjoy it most when we start to get several episodes that follow a theme. Such it is with this one, which looks back at Black Jack's past a bit and gives us a bit more insight into who he was, who he is and what makes him tick. For me, the star o...

the artwork in this book is amazing. however, the story is strange, and not really in a good way. i found myself constantly abandoning it to read more enthralling things ...

Let's play count the references to Western cartoons! Go on, I'll wait. :)I only half kid. The story is supposed to be based on medieval romances, but it seems to draw a lot of inspiration for a lot of those from the western cartoon adaptations of such romances (as well as other stories!) We get Tink...

Another great collection. This one addresses a bit more the situation Black Jack is in as an unlicensed doctor. Most of the time, it's just an aspect of his daily life, but this one actually contained a few stories about getting licensed, and about the penalties he faces for not being so. I think I ...
