Another one I tried because it was in "1001 Books." I wouldn't say it's a must read. Kind of interesting, but not great. I was pleasantly surprised to find that I liked this novel. I usually don't find late-19th/early-20th century novels all that compelling or interesting but this was the exception that tested that rule.
