A great read. The true life aspects blend beautifully to the story line and the way the real world is handled is magnificent. Almost a true story in feel.
As company for a long drive, it served its purpose. It was entertaining and exciting. However, it is not a book you will think about once you have read it. It would be a good beach book or better yet, company for a plane flight!
Started 11-6-09. I didn't much appreciate the awkward admixture of diverse epochs--the medieval trappings seemed one too many, but I loved the "Phoenician connection," as well as the Jeffersonian. My favorite, so far, of the NUMA Files. (And I seem to be reading them backwards :-))
It took me at least a third of the book to get really interested...but then I enjoyed it a lot. I always feel I've learned something with Cussler books...it may be an illusion, but it's a nice illusion. :-)
Started 11-18-09. Kurt seemed awfully cranky in this book. Plus Joe wasn't present for too much of the book. So it's a low three stars. Still, I did like it.
