Paul Schuyler Phillips, Director of Orchestras and Chamber Music at Brown University, is a distinguished conductor and composer who has conducted over sixty orchestras and opera companies worldwide, including the San Francisco Symphony, Dallas Symphony, Netherlands Radio Chamber Orchestra, Boston Academy of Music, and Stadttheater Lüneburg. He has recorded with the RTE National Symphony of Ireland for Naxos and the Iceland Symphony Orchestra for ITM. His groundbreaking research on the musical achievements of British composer-novelist Anthony Burgess led to the publication of his book "A Clockwork Counterpoint: The Music and Literature of Anthony Burgess" and essays in the Norton Critical Edition of "A Clockwork Orange" and several other books on Burgess.
