These books are wonderful for children who are beginning to read chapter books, maybe 1st or 2nd grade. These books are great because it teaches students that you need to look at the context in which things are being talked about. A good activity to pair with these books could be to work on anything...

Amelia Bedelia is a fun loving character for probably first and second graders. Amelia makes mistakes and gets confused quite often. She is a great way for students to learn that everyone makes mistakes and it's ok to do so. I would use these in my classroom library for students to have access to.

2nd Grade Amelia Bedelia takes everything literally. When house sitting for the Rogers family, she is asked to do several things throughout the house. She was told to draw the drapes and instead of closing them she sat down and drew them on paper. Her literal way of thinking is always getting her ...

Who doesn't love Amelia Bedelia? She is a great beginning reader series and with her crazy antics, she keeps kids engaged as they are reading. She Thought What?!?! Rants, Raves, and In-Betweens
Will Amelia Bedelia ever learn, probably not. She back to the same old thing, different day. She takes everything literally, and gets fired again. But gets her job back in the end because she makes good dessert.

It was fun to read with a five year old dino maven- I read "Dinosaurs lived everywhere for a long time. Then they died. N...

Amelia Bedelia. What can I say. I always wanted my parents to hire a maid, but I could never decided if I wanted Amelia Bedelia or Hazel.I was a very literal child and I could totally identify with Amelia. I mean, I had often had those same questions. Seriously, wouldn't dusting mean to put dust...

This book always tickled my funny bone when I was a kid. I think kids really like being 'in the know' and so it's fun to anticipate what silly, literal minded Amelia is going to do next! My favorite illustration has always been the 'dressed' chicken in a box. And dang it, that lemon meringue pie ...

This was the PandBat's homework. I'm not sure if she's supposed to be reading it all herself, but 54 pages is still a bit daunting, so the Possum and I took turns reading with her. If the reading goes too slowly, because of sounding out words and so forth, she starts to lose track of the plot and th...
