Oooohkay. So. Hm.I actually don't even want to write about this. I read it, quickly. It's extremely dark, extremely disturbing, a horror novel masquerading as realistic fiction. It made me nauseous, and maybe that's the part of me that's a mother of a daughter now, because I couldn't help but t...
Originally posted on my blog Chasing Empty PavementsI love this cover. Love it. It's so simple and intriguing. The solitary swing, the lush greenness surrounding it and the stoic font treatment. Then I read the blurb and I was very much in love with the thought of this book. When I finished it thoug...
This book is like a train wreck. You read and read and read and then there's wreck after wreck after wreck. In fact, there are so many wrecks that you won't be able to stop reading."Pieces of us" is certainly dark, disturbing and filled with heartache. There are so many problems and broken people tha...
I got to about page 24 before I put this book down for good. All of the characters are boring, nothing exciting happens, and I can't stand the writing style. There really isn't anything I like about this book that could have kept me reading.

(I warn you: this is also difficult for me to write without becoming lengthy.)Pieces of Us alternates between four character ...
You can read all of my reviews at Alluring Reads.Pieces of Us was a painful book to read. It was unrelenting and vivid and it felt like a punch in the gut. At times it made me feel dirty for continuing on, but I had to. This book does not shy away from the taboo, I had to check a few times to mak...
I was holding my breath for something to make me smile. Yet by the time I was done with it, there was this gigantic weight pressing down on me. The blurb hints at it, but this is a bleak, bleak book. Moments of it hinted at happy possibilities but never really went there. So, if good books are suppo...
I must admit that I had trouble finishing this book. I went into it thinking it was more Y than A, but it was quite the opposite. Pieces of Us deals with some very mature, disturbing subjects, that at first I felt very uncomfortable reading about. I am very sensitive about the subject of abusive rel...
