Genre: Children / Manners / Adventure / Humor Year Published: 1950 Year Read: 1998 Series: Pippi Longstocking #1 To be honest, I have heard of “Pippi Longstocking” when I was little, but I only saw the movies of the little red haired heroine, but then again I might have read this book when I...

pippi used to be my role model when i was little, which is a bit embarrassing to admit. i wanted her life, her confidence, her charming personality, her bizarre approaches to life, her unusual nature altogether. this is one of the best children's books ever written and it deserves to be enjoyed and ...

Pippi Longstocking is a children's empowerment fantasy. Pippi possesses three qualities most children lack: freedom, strength, and money. Strange combination of Amelia Bedelia, Cat in the Hat with a hint of Roald Dahl wrapped into one precocious little girl. Painful to read chapter after chapter, much more palatable individually. Pippi believes her mother is an angel and her father the king of the cannibals. At age 9 she lives without...

I love the Grrrl power of this book. Pippi might have been a brat by most people's standards, but she was strong, witty and lived by her own rules. She accepted herself unconditionally.
