I definitely liked the concept of the book. The writing is fast pace with a plot that never seems to take a breather. The actual style of writing is very nice since the word usage aligns with the time period and genre, but the stereotypical characters are extremely annoying. This book is a feminist ...

Pirates! Huzzah! What could possibly ruin a rollicking, randy, riotous pirate adventure? Bad writing, that's what. Hilariously caricatured characters, wincingly bad plot devices, implausible love scenes, stilted dialogue - Pirate Latitudes has it all! I could beat the crap out of this wretched wreck...

The book was good at times and dull at others. The story wasn't consistent throughout. It was simply not as good as his earlier novels. Regardless, it is still an MC novel which means it was well researched and engaging at times.

It took one hundred pages to get interesting; however, after that it got better. It still dragged in several places, but that is understandable.

At first, I wasn't so sure if I even wanted to read the book; seeing as I had never read any of Crichton's books before and have only seen several movies that were based off his books.Pirate Latitudes is about a time period in history where pirates sailed the Caribbean looking for treasure, and Capt...
