This was not at all like the movie. I think this is actually one of the rare occurrences where the movie is better than the book. The whole story could have been summed up in about 5 pages. She just kept GOING! And then nothing really happened until around page 240, and then you had to wait another ...

After watching the movie (which I loved) and hearing good and bad reviews about this book, I had my hopes up, but I was prepared for a letdown. Turns out I didn't need to prepare for a letdown, though, because Alice Hoffman delivers with this book. Her writing style is a little different from what I...

I suppose it's about being sisters, being part of family, importance of trusting your instinct. Have to say I didn't enjoy it as much as her other books. Gillian was getting away with murder and instead of acknowledging it, Hoffman gave her other way out. Gillian was a no good, annoying, irresponsib...

This is a really good book. I couldn't put it down. It's good as many genres, coming of age, romance, fantasy, family drama, all of the above. It's so well-written and the language is beautiful and affecting. The words painted an image that was vivid and alive in my mind. Strangely enough, I pictu...
