Series: Black Dragon #1 Well that was disappointing. It's a little hard to describe why this didn't click with me, but the dialogue just seemed too scattered and dreamlike and the daughter was a total idiot. Sure, she had brains, supposedly, but she was basically TSTL. Oh, and there was a pet deat...
At first I was a bit disappointed that the dragon of the title was no longer a dragon! But as the story unfolded I was drawn in by the characters. The relationship builds naturally and feels right. An enjoyable read.
The second of the trilogy, Damiano has given his magic to Saara and he is now trying to exist without it, but it comes back to haunt him.
I have loved this series for years and it doesn't lessen it's impact every time I read it. Sweet series of novels involving Damiano a witch from Italy and what happens when his world is consumed by war.
I have really loved RA MacAvoy's writing, starting all the way back with Tea with Black Dragon. The Grey Horse is part of the scenery on the inside of my head, and the Lens series floored me several times. So I was thrilled to see that she is writing again. For me this was reminiscent of Black Dr...
3.6 starsI curled up with this book during the weirdest weather weekend I've witnessed for August as a native Kansan. A north wind for three days (starting on Friday), highs in the low 70s and partly to mostly cloudy. It felt and smelled like October! And this book was perfect for that setting. ...
The last part of Nazhuret's adventures. He's an aging father with an adult daughter and an assassin on his trail. Loved it. MacAvoy does a wonderful job of writing her character into late middle age. I adored the depiction of Nazhuret as a man of wide experience and simple needs who would really ...
Nazhuret continues his adventures and travels to the homeland of his mother in an attempt to stop a war. Oddly this was almost too well written. I occasionally would get knocked out of following the story by my admiration of some perfectly written gem of a sentence that I'd just have to stop and ad...
Well that was loads of fun! Story of Nazhuret, an orphan of unknown parentage who, somewhat at a loss for what to do after graduating from military school, stumbles upon a mysterious teacher in an odd building in the forest. Under the guidance of this person Nazhuret embarks on a rigorous course o...
A lovely little book about a retired chinese dragon and an Irish fiddle player facing intrigue and skulduggery in San Francisco. Well crafted prose, interesting characters, and an elusive quality of comfort and strangeness mixed.
