This book could be used for grades 4-6 where students are going through changes like braces and glasses. It could help students feel more comfortable about themselves.

This was cute and the imagery is very well done, its easy to see the emotions of the characters just from the drawings. I'm not sure I really liked the ghost element of this story, in fact I kind of wish it was just about a young girl with a sister that is sick moving to a new state and a new home. ...

Cute graphic novel based on the authors childhood, and the struggles faced in the tween/early teen years, especially when braces are involved. It almost felt like a walk down memory lane, though I was very lucky to have less-judgmental friends than poor Raina. The lessons learned in this book are ...

Oh, where to even begin with this. Many may have heard of it. Telgemeier is a darling, and she's not without a huge amount of talent. The illustration was fantabulous, and it's well-paced, exciting. The problem is, as far as diversity goes--and this graphic novel tries to cash in on several tiers ...

I was uncertain about this book as I was reading it. I'm not Mexican. I don't celebrate Día de los Muertos. But flags did go up when Halloween and Día de los Muertos seemed to converge in the book. This review sums up the problems with the book (there's several other reviews out there that all sa...

I read this book after reading an article on the lack of diversity of main characters in children's books. While the article focused mostly on younger kids books, I feel like this one falls in the spectrum. Touching on Day of the Dead, ofrendas, cystic fibrosis, moving to a new city, and a tiny bi...

Around the Year Reading Challenge Item #35: An Award-Winning book (Will Eisner Comic Industry Award Winner)So, even though everyone who has laid eyes on this graphic novel seems to love it, regardless of age, I was never particularly interested in reading it. But it came up on my book club's reading...

I'm happy that these comics are introducing a new generation to the Baby-Sitters Club. However, I'm not a huge fan of the format. For me the best parts of the books were the descriptions at the beginning and every one of Claudia's outfits. Telgemeier tried but will never be able to capture the magic...

An interesting family story simply told. But white people* really need to let spirit animals go. *Anyone who's not Native should stop throwing the term around so casually/applying it to themselves, but in my experience white people seem the most attached to it.

It is very predictable that she well need to go threw all the process to get them fix that means she has to go threw a lot of pain and lots of changed is she wants to get them done. i thought this book was just right for m...
