I’m not sure where to begin and what else I can say that I didn’t rave about in the first book. I liked The Emerald Storm much better than the later half of Nyphron Rising. It wasn’t that the first sub-book in Rise of Empire was bad, I just liked the pacing of the second. I admit, I did start skim...
After a series of major changes in the last book(s), Royce and Hadrian are still pretty much themselves, though grimmer and more exhausted versions of themselves. Both are still working for the Melengar royal family, still sent on dubious quests to save the kingdom while subverting the Nyphron Empir...
This is the second book in the Riyria Revelations and it picks up where the first story left off. I would highly recommend that you read the first book in the series before reading this one because the author doesn't fill the pages with much information about what happened in book 1, he just takes ...
I haven't changed my mind. The second installment (or third and fourth, depends) was even better then the first one. I liked the plot, the mitery - even if it's not complicated at all and the reader can easy figure it out. It's not about secrets or mysteries. It's about fun.4 stars.
Come to think of it, "Rise of Empire" is a pretty apt name for this middle omnibus. In the two books it contains, the bad guys increase in power and strength, gaining the upper hand while our heroes suffer several setbacks. I can't help but be reminded of the second movie of a certain sci-fi trilogy...
