Rose Red and Snow White lacks some of the charm and cohesiveness of some of the more familiar tales. But I don't think any of that is Sanderson's fault and overall this is a nice re-telling. This one I first encountered not as a book, but as an album of audio stories. I loved the bear, but I prefer Tender Morsels to Into the Forest as an updated retelling. Because really? Bears do not make good playmates.
