by Shirin Yim Bridges, illustrated by Sophie Blackall I enjoyed this book. Ruby is a smart strong girl (my favorite kind), who is determined to learn as much as she can. I love the fact that the book is based on the author's grandmother.
Wonderful, engaging story based on the experiences of the author's grandmother.
An uplifting (and true!) story that give a great sense of time and place. Now I want to know more about Ruby!
