Sarah Holland-Batt was born in Southport, Queensland in 1982, and has lived in Italy, the United States, Japan and Australia. Her first book, Aria, was the recipient of the the Judith Wright Poetry Prize, the Thomas Shapcott Poetry Prize, and the FAW Anne Elder Award, and was shortlisted in both the New South Wales Premier's Literary Awards and the Queensland Premier's Literary Awards. She is also the recipient of an Australia Council literature residency at the B.R. Whiting Studio in Rome and an Asialink Residency in Japan. She presently lives in New York.
