This was my first Marchetta, and I fell in love. Her writing is so straight-forward, and Francesca's story is so real. The characters, the story, the setting - all so very real, but so poetic when it's in Melina's words.

Further proof that Melina Marchetta just might be the supreme being.

I love this book!! Reminded me a bit of Sex and the City except with teenage Austrailan girls. I loved the development of the friendships and the fact that the book didn't revolve around Francesca's love interest. On to The Piper's Son, I love me some Thomas, so can't wait!!

★★★★★ (This is a review of the audiobook.) I just loved this one; an exceptional read! Rebecca Macauley does an excellent job of sounding like sixteen year-old Francesca, as well as the other diverse characters in this wonderful coming of age story. Sure, there isn’t much of a stretch for her n...

Sixteen year old Francesca is doing her last two years of high school at St. Sebastian's, a boys school which has recently opened it's doors to girls. As one of only 30 girls in a school of 600 and with all her old friends attending a different school, life is not a lot of fun for her. Added to that...

I'm pretty sure I love everything about this book. I enjoyed it so much that any words I use for a review wouldn't be worthy.

I'm currently reading The Piper's Son and it struck me all of a sudden how awesome, how fabulous this book is and that I'd given it four stars and that I need to re-read it right after I finish The Piper's son.Marchetta books are like wine.

I think I should start out by saying that I’m not much of a crier – even when it comes to books or movies. I tend to shed a few tears here and there when I read or watch something particularly moving, but either than that, the only books I’ve truly bawled over have been Harry Potter and the Deathly ...
