Action-packed and exciting! I can see why this book was nominated for the Teens' Top Ten. Scarlet is quite the role model (despite her totally unhealthy guilt complex), and Rob is a dreamy hero. This book makes me wish I could kick butt.
Im not entirely sure about this one. I enjoyed it, I've always liked the tale of Robin Hood and I always like stories in that time period, but the main character really irked me. Also, did anyone else think John got a rough deal? I felt utterly sorry for the lad. In fact the whole love triangle real...
To start off this review I want to warn you, this is not going to be a nice review. I always try my hardest to be even-handed with my reviews, pointing out the good AND bad in every book I read. But every now and then a book comes along that I dislike so much I cannot be fair or even-handed. Scar...
Okay, my review situation has gotten totally out of hand. I read this book almost two months ago and I still haven't reviewed it. ... Plus I have like ten other books to review, and it's just insane. GAHHHH.Well, at this point I've probably forgotten some of the things I was going to say about this ...
2.5/3 starsI liked the premise of this story immensely, but the execution fizzled.Scarlet's narrative, even internally, is that of an illiterate, grammatically-challenged urchin without any clue of how to speak properly even though it is clear from within the first few chapters that she is nobly bor...
I weren't really sure what to think of this book when I were finished with it. When I started, the *were*s were a little jarring. I decided that this was just part of the dialect and voice (though I didn't have a problem with Scarlet's *fair*s and *right*s, etc.) so I kept pushing. It took a few pag...
I loved Scarlet and couldn't read this book fast enough! I already loved the tale of Robin Hood so I was really excited to read this twist on the story. While reading this book I couldn't help but be reminded of this picture book about Robin Hood that I would read over and over again as a kid. It ha...
This is a fast paced retelling of Robin Hood from "Will" Scarlet's POV. Scarlet is a girl disguised as a boy, a thief, and has some big secrets that are eating her up. The usual suspects in any Robin Hood tale are here. The evil Sheriff is taxing the people to death and he has called in Thief Taker ...
Another YA book with a good idea that didn't live up to its potential. Sadly, I found this to be poorly written, peopled with bland characters and (and I haven't used that word to describe a book since I was a kid) boring.
