Are you stressed-out? Having relationships problems? Do you feel like you are wedged in a rut? Why struggle? Reach for a book in the self-help category to guide your quest to find helpful advice for your situation. Self-help sets you free from having to map out your own plan to deal with angst, worries, and self-doubt. You no longer have to design a strategy to lose the ten pounds you've been struggling with. Self-help books with at least fifty different ways to deal with struggles are ‘out there’. I will share what I know about the self-help form of changing your life, point you to helpful resources and make suggestions to improve your self-esteem and happiness. This is a bold attempt on my part for though I acknowledge self-help as necessary for personal growth, I recognize some folks will pull back. Please be open-minded about my points-of-view. I will show you how you may change your life in a positive way through the self-help method. As you read, you will notice that I bring up libraries, bookstore; seminars and workshops as areas to find relevant readings. Similarly, access to the internet allows you to download e-books, blogs, and periodicals by authors and amateur writers who give solutions for anger management, stress reduction and ‘how to” of numerous kinds. You can find self-help books that ‘scream’ positive thinking, mental states, happiness, and self-love and money matters. And if you like adjectives that make a stronger point, (Hardcore Self-help: F**k Depression by Robert Duff, Ph.D.), you will find self-help books of those kinds. Whatever your strategy for improving yourself—be it reading a book, attending a workshop or a seminar, self-help is a worthwhile form to consider. Self-help is ‘out there’. Self-help may address your needs, may not address your needs, may bombard you with words that flatten what ‘little’ self-esteem you are left with, may make you feel like dirt for even having a problem to fix and may make you giggle like an idiot at a silly remark; but mostly, self-help may address some of your toughest concerns in a positive way. I will do my best to debunk some widely held myths about what self-help is meant to fix and not fix. I hope to convince you that it is okay to make use of the self-help method of addressing and even perfecting an area of your life. I hope you will reconsider any negative assumptions you may already have on the subject of self-help. By reading this book, you will have some essentials to make an informed decision about your personal growth; you no longer have to trudge through your own trial and errors. I assure you, you can find a teacher within the pages of a self-help book. You will discover that it is more convenient to purchase the ‘bottled’ answers to your concerns. Don’t be someone who misses out on making a positive change because you never tried a new thing. Be someone other people marvel at; someone other people see and say; he’s (she’s) made an astonishing change, I don’t know how he (she) does it. Be someone who takes action immediately.
