I was pretty disappointed with this book. I LOVED the first one. Sadly, I spent the entirety of this one wondering where the hell the main character's voice had gone. It felt like she just sat aside and let all the men around her do her talking for her. They even talked about her and insulted her in...
I don't know what didn't click with me with this book but I found it hard to get in to and didn't really engage me as much as I'd like. Diana and Matthew go back in time, meet with a lot of historical Elizabethan characters and try to work out why Diana's magic is problematic. And I did want to ...
*Sigh* Goddamn, I'm so fucking annoyed at myself. I LOVED A Discovery of Witches. LOVED it, so much so it was one of my favorite books of that year. But DAMN, I couldn't get through this. Though I am actually going to give this a second chance through audio, and I have a feeling I might actually lik...
3.5-4 starsI have had this one in my to read pile for some time now. I always put off reading it because of the length of it. I enjoyed this one. At the moment I am studying the history of healing and I enjoyed all the history and how this story unfolded. At times I struggled with it. I think the pa...
Did not enjoy this as much as the first book. Parts seemed rushed through, and there was that weird self-aware moment that came too close to breaking the fourth wall for me. I'm sure it was supposed to be clever but it seemed forced and awkward instead. Still, looking forward to the third book!

I found the first half of the book draggy and lacking the excitement of the first volume of the trilogy. We were introduced to a myriad of new characters, seemingly all at once and they ...
Have no idea why I picked up this sequel as I don't remember enjoying the first one. Annoyance was my biggest recollection. This one is fun. Think if you like historical fiction with some magic woven in, you should try this one. Final verdict: Definitely better than the first
This book was crap. As a general rule, I have no problem reading crap but this was boring, drawn out crap without any juiciness to keep me going. I gave up on p.348/581 Loc6683- after we get a boring blow by blow of how the vampire Matthew hunts down a stag. Snore! Can we get to a plot please? You k...
