I love Susanna Kearsley!! Reading her (for me at least) is the literary equivalent of a favorite old sweater--comforting and warm. Almost as soon as I start I can feel it gathering around me like a safe little bubble. They are not for everyone--the romances in them always seem to end a little too ...

This was first my Kearsley book and I really enjoyed it. I wasn't sure exactly what to expect but I was pleasantly surprised. The story had a touch of gothic, paranormal, historical & romance which are all favorites of mine. I'm looking forward to checking out what else she has to offer.

Not as epically romantic as The Winter Sea, The Shadowy Horses was nonetheless a satisfying read. Archaeologist Verity Grey has been drawn to the dark legends of the Scottish Borderlands in search of the truth buried in a rocky field by the sea. I felt like the story could have moved a bit fast...

What I liked: - the archaeology and Roman history lessons, - the main premise, - the setting, - Wally, Jeannie's dad. I enjoy reading Kearsley's books. Though they tend to be populated with similar characters, it's fun to see them in slightly different positions this time around. What I didn't...

I first stumbled across Susanna Kearsley last year, when I read The Winter Sea, quite some time after Sourcebook re-released it. And I will freely admit it, I was totally drawn to that book by its cover and once I read it, I found myself saying "must read ALL the books by Susanna Kearsley!!!" But mu...
