Enjoyably predictable. I've got a thing for this author's time-slip books. *It doesn't change things for me as far as enjoying the story, but the knowledge that this is a reissue from the mid-90s explains a few things. Having read Winter Sea recently, it felt like the author's writing style slippe...
Verity joins an archaeological dig in Scotland, looking for the Ninth Roman Camp. A mysterious ghostly sentinel that can only be seen by a wee lad with a "gift" seems to guard the sight. But is it really the Ninth? And what other strange things are going on here? Verity seems to be stuck in the midd...
Not a whole lot, that’s what. But Verity Grey definitely gets more than she bargained for when she heads to Rosehill in Eyemouth to interview for a job. One she accepts, even when she finds out who they’re looking for – none other than the missing Ninth Legion – and that their efforts are based more ...
The villain was pretty easy to figure out. Even with that overall I enjoyed the book a lot. I guess this book is one of the author's early works (1997 publication date). I think I've read about 4 or 5 of her books and have enjoyed all of them. A little romance but it's the camera angles to the l...
I think I have read too many books involving ghosts (or read about them) I kept wondering if the sentinel here was a hottie and if they would hook up ;)Let us forget about that and get to the story. Verity is an archaeologist, she loves her job but wants back to digging. So in comes Scotland, and a ...
Read This Review & More Like It On Ageless Pages Reviews!A thoroughly satisfying mix of history, the paranormal, with a dash of romance to flavor, The Shadowy Horses does not disappoint. A bit more romance-orientated than my previous read by this author (Mariana), I can still easily endorse Susanna...
I'm glad I've found the time to read this wonderful book. Intriguing plot line, wonderful characters and the whole story was well structured and explored. A beautiful love story too. Great read!
3.5 starsThe Shadowy Horses was an enjoyable read for me although a bit disappointing. The character and setting development was very well done. I greatly enjoyed the characters. I also liked the mixing of history, archeology, ghosts, mystery and romance. However, what the book came down to was a li...
Enjoyable romance but much more enjoyable history lesson. The romantic story arcs (both of them) were pretty predictable. The real strength here was in the characters- each distinct, each believable. I dug it but was not transported.
