Shauna James Ahern is the author of the cookbook, Gluten-Free Girl and the Chef, which was named one of the best cookbooks of 2010 by The New York Times, and the food memoir, Gluten-Free Girl, published in 2006 and still in print. She is also the author, photographer, and head baker at Gluten-Free Girl and the Chef, her popular food blog (www.glutenfreegirl.com).In May 2005, Ahern was diagnosed with celiac disease, a fate she embraced with gusto and curiosity. She began her blog as a place to share stories about great food with friends. She's still astonished that her stories, photographs, and recipes draw nearly 1 million page views a month. She is considered one of the most authoritative sources on living gluten-free. Her work has been published or recognized by The New York Times, Gourmet, Bon Appetit, Epicurious, Babble, The Guardian, Gilt Taste, CNN's Eatocracy, and The Washington Post. She lives on an island off Seattle with her husband Daniel. After 20 years of working at great restaurants across the country, Daniel is now the chef-in-residence on the blog. They adore their four-year-old daughter. You'll probably find them all in the kitchen right now.

That rebuilding the relationship between you and food may be more complex than you think and that you s...

I may change the rating if I borrow it again and actually try some of the recipes. Right now I'm trying to acknowledge that I have too many books lurking around the house that are in fact for glancing through and not enough time. And it's not really me. I'm not vegan for starters. Several of the ...

I'd actually give this book two different ratings. The (true) love story is five stars all the way - engaging, funny, touching, and well-written. The recipes on the other hand I'd give between three & four stars for their difficulty, long ingredient lists, and the frequent use of lactose (something...

I really like this book. It's not a "how-to," that part is a bit misleading. It's an attitude adjustment. When you have first been hit with the wallop that says "the food that you eat everyday is killing you. You must stop NOW," it can be panic-inducing. Everything in your life must change, especial...
