I would have given this four stars, except for the fact that the middle 300 pages were so bleak that I considered abandoning the book. I really like the way Hobb builds worlds and sure hope she revisits this one soon. She tied up all the loose ends, so I don't feel like I'm missing anything, but I like these characters and this world, and would love to see how things work out down the road.
