I've been reading a few chapters of this book each day over the past two weeks. I usually don't do that since I like to get into a book and then not stop reading it. However, with the size of this book and my desire to read so many other books, I thought I'd go a few chapters at a time with this one...
One of the best historical novels I have read, re-read and read again. It is story of a sailor stranded in ancient Japan. I hope you put it on your must read list and enjoy it as much as I did.
What Michener did for Western American history in Centennial, Clavell does for Japan. I love the book. It's even richer than the miniseries, which is also good. Truly a monumental read you'll never forget. An investment of time due to size but well worth it. One of the best books I've ever read...

They had a strong sense of honor, but were also interested in staying alive. Well, fancy that. Though I'm embarrassed to admit that I believed it when I read the book. I wis...
