I picked up Skinwalker by Faith Hunter because I heard that the Jane Yellowrock series could be compared to the Mercedes Thompson series by Patricia Briggs. I love the Mercedes Thompson series so much that out of all of the book I have read they are on the very top of my favorites list. I wish I kne...

Well Faith Hunter, you have my attention. In my quest for new Urban Fantasy to read, I stumbled across Jane Yellowrock's series. It sat on my to-be-read pile for ages, and now I fully regret not getting to this book sooner. Skinwalker is the whole package. A shapeshifting, half-Cherokee, snarky and ...

Not amazing writing, but I was very quickly very fond of the heroine. Could have used some better editing, particularly re: some minorly inconsistent characterization, but overall I quite enjoyed it. The commonly drawn parallel seems to be the Mercy Thompson books, but I found it more like the early...

~~moved from GR~~ Skinwalker by Faith Hunter recommended for: readers interested in less PNR-y female-protag UF recommended by: Well, me, I guess. It was a BOM for a reading group, but I think I voted for it and/or nominated it. Vampire hunters don't get to pick their employers, but it doesn't...

The first half of Skinwalker doesn't have a lot going for it. The heroine is a laundry list of UF attributes, not really bring anything new to the table. There was no tension from the plot because it was a police procedural with Jane, the heroine, being an out of towner with no idea of the stakes in...

Repetitious at times, but a good start to a series.

As I read more books about shifters and vampires, the reviews become harder and harder to write. Yep, she’s a shifter. Yep, she is after the bad vampire. Of course, this book is a tad different – they are *all* a tad different, but repetitive as well. I do not, however, feel a book should be penaliz...
