I was disappointed by the last Dessen book I read, but I was holding on hope because I still love her writing–sometimes the book just isn’t a good fit for me, though, and unfortunately, this book and I did not click. Despite my conservative views, I don’t have problems with reading books about teen ...

This is my least favorite Dessen books so far. It has the central conflict of a teenage girl and her parents, which was fine, and handled well, I think. But hoo, dog, the slut shaming was a throwback to the 50s. Girl has sex once and gets pregnant, the guy dies in an accident the next day, she choos...

This one was just OK for me...I think that the characters were not quite as drawn out as I'd have liked, and it read more like a book for a VERY young kid (think Babysitter's Club or something along those lines), except that the subject matter was beyond their scope. Parts of it seemed quite unbelie...

It's actually 3.5, but...Really sweet book, and sweet (also fast) reading. You'll probably enjoy in the story. If I haven't read all those love (romance) books I would probably really like this book, but I had read them.

2.5 starsIs it just me, or do Sarah Dessen’s earlier books feel... grittier than the later releases? Well, “gritty” isn’t the right word, I know. Sarah Dessen’s work is realistic, painfully so at times, but not particularly “edgy” or dark, for want of better words. My point is that having read Desse...

Not one of Sarah Dessen's best but a bittwersweet coming of age tale of two teenage girls as they encounter the harsh truths of reality for the first time and learn a valuable lesson or two about men. What I have always liked about Sarah Dessen is that none of her characters are cliched or fake. The...
