"Of course, she always went and spoiled the appeal by opening her mouth. In his humble experience, the world had yet to produce a more vexingly verbose female."A fun, light-hearted adventure into an alternate Victorian England where supernatural beings: vampires, werewolves and ghosts are integrate...
This was one of those that worked for me overall but still had problems. I enjoyed the humor, and the story was fast-paced and usually fun. I hated Alexia's habit of putting herself down and seeing herself as “less,” but it made sense in the context of what her family life was like – her mother neve...
Love it when a book surprises you. This first in the series just swept me away. Loved the prickly independent h and the alpha H, they snarked at each other but that made it so much more entertaining when they finally succumbed to their mutual attraction.
I didn't like this as much as I thought I would. The writing style was a bit formal. The author would switch back and forth when talking about Alexia. It was distracting and annoying. Pick one and stick with it! The following examples are just from pages 1 and 2: "Miss Tarabotti was not..." "Fo...
I read this to follow up on Ms. Carriger after reading her new Youth series. It is interesting, but not as smooth a read as her newer titles. I am going to try book 2 and see if it gets a little less bumpy.

This book is not serious at all unless you consider it seriously fun! I really enjoy steampunk books b...
(My very first review! Please excuse the mess!) Soulless (The Parasol Protectorate) - Gail Carriger I am not a fan of romance, least of all, supernatural romance. I knew, prior to picking this book up, that romance would play a significant role in the story but I decided to overlook it because I...
*5 Stars**The Gush* Wow. I had looked at the book a number of times but too many times of being burned stayed my hand. The idea sounded too good to be true and my experience told me it either would be too good to be true or see a wonderful idea mangled by the author. So I kept gazing at it longingly...
