Amanda herself and all her shenanigans are deeply irritating to me, but I do love the almost-background relationship between Gary and Beatrix. Also, Amanda redeems herself somewhat by actually being steadfastly in love with Neil and not being quite as much of a ninny in an actual emergency.
Heyer continues to be rolling on the floor hilarious. I'm very surprised this hasn't been modernised into a movie. It's a very funny road trip of errors and has a fab final scene.

I read this back in 1997 and loved it... I think I must have gotten more picky since then, because I didn't think too much of it. Sure, it's a nice romance - but not much more than that. I have heard it's not GH's best though, so I'll try some of her other books next.
