A guilty pleasure since I generally loathe Heinlein. It's useful to read this in tandem with Haldeman's Forever War.

Roughly half the novel talks of a futuristic society where space marines fight aliens. If that sounds a bit generic and lame, well, it is. The book is certainly not as bad as the atrocious movie, and in fact, has very little to do with the movie, although both feature their fair share of uninspired ...
Konnici na Liriite - Chevalier Du Lys
This was an interesting reading. I've being wondering when I would do it and after seeing another time the movie I decide myself to do it. Both the movie and the book are quite good. Believe me. I've read the critics of both the movies and books. They both are stupid. They are so stupid as the ones ...

I wanted to grow up to be Johnnie Rico and roam the galaxy killing bugs. The movie was a joke. The book is pure excitement with a good story.

My first impulse is to dismiss it as an appalling piece of militaristic propaganda, whose one saving grace is that it's at least much better than the movie. But that wouldn't be doing the book justice. With all its faults, I simply loved it as a 14 year old, and I'm in no way alone there. Why is it ...

This story reads as a kind of guided tour of nationalistic, military jingoism and heavily Conservative political philosophy wrapped up in a sci-fi shell. The sci-fi elements themselves are often interesting, but they are backgrounded by the narrator's (can we can assume Heinlein's?) reaction and res...

Reviews of books read in the past:I stand by my adolescent 4-star rating because even though militaristic Heinlein is a putz, The Forever War, Ender's Game, and the hilarious eponymous movie that pokes fun at the square-jawed jingoism of Starship Troopers broaden rather than detract from my affectio...
