4 Stars Buy it This is the second in the children editions of Pearls Before Swine. Definitely cute but I miss the running commentary of the treasuries. This book is nicely designed and I like how some of the pages have a colored background. I really liked the Christmas pic stops on pages 56-57. Thi...
Overall: 5 Stars Star Rating Art: 4 Stars Star Rating Story: 5 Stars Self purchase. First Impression: Crocodiles!! YEAY!!!! Plot/Storyline: I was going to hold off reading this because I’m almost caught up on the treasury releases. However, the Federal Shutdown has me depressed so I’m g...
Brilliant, of course. I was glad (though hardly surprised) to see that Stephan Pastis shares my feelings about tradition. I see tradition as something that's done a lot of harm and doesn't bring much good with it. Tradition is a magnifying glass. After all, if a custom is something people enjoy doin...
3 Stars Self Purchase First Impression: O.K. This is the weakest of all the treasury’s that I’ve read. You’d think it be the first one but it isn’t. Even the running commentary isn’t as strong in this volume. IDon't like rat’s stories. They usually involve too much reading (obviously I like re...

I picked it up for the Spouse who reads the comic regularly. And then, you know, I was in one of those moods when nothing else seemed to appeal. Early on I was more fascinated by Pastis' commentary than by the comics themselves: there are a lot of jokes that he knew didn't really work before they we...
