I really enjoyed how Stephen Baxter was able to carry HG Wells voice through this novel. Interestingly, however, my favorite character was Nebogipfel, the Moorlock from the second timeline.

I'd actually like to give this one 3.5 stars, at least until I read the sequel. It was a decent enough book, a compelling read, but it did have a few problems; it felt like a good novella that had been padded to make a fat novel and subsequently suffered for it. Certain of the more SF aspects of the...

You know, I just can't seem to find hard scifi that really speaks to me.I had high hopes for Proxima: interesting premise and an ex-engineer author with a history of collaborating with Terry Pratchett? Count me in.But the book just wasn't for me. I honestly didn't plan on reviewing it because I just...

Well, I can't say as I'd ever pick up another book in this series, but I *did* enjoy this book.I haven't read a lot of Pratchett or Baxter, so I had no true standards or expectations going into it. I think that helped. The one big thing that bothers me about The Long Earth is that it... rambles. You ...

So this is the fourth book in Pratchett and Baxter's Long Earth collaboration; apparently there will also be a fifth, which feels frankly unnecessary, but there you go. I feel like the concept of the Long Earth - an apparently infinite series of alternate Earths, empty for the most part of human lif...

4.5 stars. It was long, and this bothered me at times, but only because I really wanted to get to the bottom of the mysteries and have some closure. It was all fascinating, though, and so terrifyingly true: if, may it not be, we see ocean rising of this magnitude this is totally how it would play...

This is another fine anthology edited by Mr. Strahan, and as he always does, he makes the reading order count. That is to say, as you march through the anthology, you'll note interesting connections between adjacent stories (not always, but there are some). But that is almost beside the point of my ...

This novel has both an interesting premise as well as some decent world building in it but as an overall novel this one just did not work that well for me. It had at least three different story lines going on that did not seem to have any connection and while they converged some by the end of this s...
