It was an interesting read. What was there of the world building was interesting, the concept of a wizard doctor and mechanical hearts was intriguing. Mervyn and Callisto were wonderful characters but I hated Denzil and I can't say I'm looking forward to reading his story.
This is a very sweet and endearing book. A greatly appreciated reprieve while I was reading a difficult book. But it sounds horrible when I call it a reprieve, because it's not just a 'filler'. It has quite the interesting story line to it, no great mystery, but the whole idea of stealing hearts, ha...
The mecha element to this was very interesting. The balance between the mecha and the fantasy was quite nice, actually. The writing itself was rather reminiscent of the works of Megan Derr (to me, at least).
