This is feeling like a 3.5/3.75 read for me.Characters and world were interesting and it was a fairly quick pace.
I liked the pace of this one, and I loved the voice of the MC. I felt like it was unique and provided something different for readers. This will be the first book in awhile where I'm actually planning on reading the whole series.
The premise of this story–a city that runs on magic–is fascinating, and I loved the descriptions of the city itself. The book itself had the feeling of the first book in a trilogy, but the characters were so great (a wizard, the thief who steals his locus-stone, the muscle who knits and bakes biscui...
This is the first in yet another fantasy series, the life-blood of many a young reader. Our hero, Connwear, is the cheeky young apprentice to a curmudgeonly wizard. Together they expend their energies and talents to discover where all the magic in their city is disappearing to.
