Ah yes, that is what I was looking for. Some old-fashioned fun with some spells, monsters, and wit. It brings me back to my Anita Blake days. Snarky protagonists can easily go one of two ways. Either they quickly turn into whiny, irritating butt holes, or they have dry sarcasm and self deprecating h...

How do I feel about this book? Ugh! Crazy conflicted. Here goes my attempt to try to explain myself. I love love love wizards. So yeah, I’m going to like Harry. Did I really like him? You bet. Did I love him so much I couldn’t put down the book? Sadly, no. I mean, I really liked him. Um, did I men...

Storm Front, while a good start to a series, has it's issues, at least for me. Like it dragged at some parts, particularly when Harry was thinking about how crappy he had some things, or how he felt so badly about things that weren't really his fault. It could kind of go on for a page or two, and ...

I really hate when I become impatient with a book to the point where I sound like a petulant brat. "I'm bored." "OMG, this is soooo boring." "Why does everyone like this? HOW could anyone like this?" and so on and so on. Or at least until I got to the part where Harry runs out of the house naked. Ok...

When reading this book I kept mentally making comparisons between it and Mike Carey's Felix Castor series and Simon R. Green's Nightside series, both of which I have been enjoying immensely. In the comparison, this, the first book in Butcher's Dresden Files series, almost always came up short. That ...

I have some very bad news. Please brace yourself.Ready?Okay.James Marsters is not British.I know. I know. I feel your pain. It's my pain, too.The good news is, he's still totally crushable. Not as crushable, of course. But his so-called "real" voice is pretty awesome. I know, because I just listened...

Very amusing for what it was but I'm not big on urban fantasy so I can't see myself reading the next 12 or so books in the series. I can see why there is such an appeal though for fans of the genre. It was witty and well written.

The premise for this book/series is not dissimilar to that of endless cop/detective shows, books etc.- our protagonist is an unconventional sort, not easy to work with, a loner by nature, distrusted by many, but has some special skill that some member of the police force knows is too valuable to pas...

I liked Harry Dresden. He's a cool wizard detective. Hell, he is the first wizard detective I have ever read about (so far). I liked the humor and the action in the book. But I was not overly captivated by the story, it wasn't a book that I devoured and when I finally finished it I had to have the n...
