Heinlein's libertarian fantasy novel about a polyamorous messiah who comes to Earth after being raised by aliens on Mars. the sort of thing that blows your mind at age 15 but makes you cringe a little at 30.

putting aside all of the sexist, homophobic, and gender stereotyping commentary throughout this book (and a bit of racism as well, but not nearly as overt), i found this a fun read. for the first 2/3 of the book. Like many of the reviews I've seen on here, I like the first part of the book and then it loses all appeal in the second half. Once he "understands people" he pretty much becomes a regular person with tricks. He loses all of his innocence and purity and lowers himself to try to win people. The id...

I read this as a kid (when I was devouring the Golden Age of sci fi) and loved it. I reread it in the last couple of years and couldn't figure out what I had loved so much about it.
