Review: The Fine Line
The Fine Line - Alicia Kobishop

Liv Evans has closed herself off, not allowing herself to love someone as she suffered when she was younger. She doesn’t do relationships, boys are only for fun; until she meets Logan Tanner. Logan has also been burnt and finds it hard to trust, he doesn’t do relationships and makes his money street racing. Both Liv and Logan have to learn to let go and do what’s right or suffer the consequences.

Wow, I’m currently bawling like a baby, it’s been a long time since I had a cry with a good book and The Fine Line is just that! The storyline was catchy and entertaining. I’m a big fan of street racing and cars in general so it really pushed my buttons, not to mention the fit hunk, the complete package xD

Liv Evans was hurt in her past and decides to close herself off to prevent it happening again. Liv needs to learn to let loose and live life to the fullest before it’s too late. As a character she didn’t do much for me, I think mostly because she was always running away and giving out mixed signals but in the end she thankfully grew a backbone.

Logan Tanner is a street racing hunk, he races for money and fixes up cars on the side. How hot is that? He’s a great character, funny, charming, hot, a racer HELLO, understanding (to a point) and a great guy in general. I really liked Logan and felt sorry for him through a lot of the story.

The chemistry between Liv and Logan was on fire, but with reluctance from both sides it’s left to get hotter until it consumes them, they wound me up sometimes as I just wanted them together but Liv was too stubborn and Logan too untrusting. It just added to it though, the anticipation kept me on the edge of my seat and I couldn’t put it down as I had to see where it would go.

Overall I thought ‘The Fine Line’ was a great read, full of action, romance, and hot guys. Kobishop has a way of gripping you and not letting go until you’ve finished. I finished this in one sitting and now wish I’d taken my time as I don’t want it to be over!!

This is a standalone with a HEA.

Collage

Liv Evans (17) has been disappointed by men too many times. 1st her dad walks out on Liv & her mom. Then over the years Liv became close with two of her mom's boyfriends. They became father figures/friends & she had the bond she desperately craved right up until they left too.

"Why does everyone I love have to leave?

Never again. I’m done. This is the last time I will ever have this feeling."

To avoid ever feeling heartbroken again Liv decides No Relationships.

“Some people wear their hearts on their sleeves.  I learned a long time ago that preserving one’s heart means keeping it protected.  Sheltered. My heart is hidden deep within the secure layers of my soul, where it rests easy with the knowledge that nothing can penetrate its everlasting impervious shell.”

Having never felt a strong connection with any guy her plan has worked so far, right up until she meets Logan Tanner (19) at River Fest. Logan & Liv have an instant attraction that can't be denied, but Liv can't let him get too close.

“I would not allow myself to be flustered by any boy. Even if he did have the most incredible eyes I had ever seen.”

Since love never lasts & it's not worth the heartbreak she & Logan should just be friends. Logan knows what he wants, will he be able to convince Liv to take a chance at love?

Logan

I loved Logan! Did I mention he is a street racer? He has Dark Brown Hair, Hazel Eyes, Full Sexy Lips & a Hot Muscular Body.

Caution

My favorite part is the suspenseful ending! I was not expecting that twist at all.

Why not 5 Stars? I had a hard time relating to Liv. I think if I had read this 10 years ago I would have loved her. I'm in my thirties now with a husband & 2 kids so for me she was just...

Drama, Drama, Drama

At certain points I would have loved to know what Logan was thinking. I couldn't help wondering...Why is he putting up with this?

Would I recommend it? Yes, just go into it knowing Liv is 17

Thanks for the fun & laughs during our BR ladies! xoxo

Synopsis

High school senior Liv Evans has one rule: No attachments. She’s lost enough in her life and has vowed to do whatever it takes to make sure she never again feels the emptiness of losing someone she loves. Boys are a fun distraction, but a serious relationship is something she’d rather live without. Her determination for a future free of pain and heartbreak is put to the test when she meets–and quickly forms an unexpected bond–with Logan Tanner.

Logan has always been a free spirit, but ever since a life-changing event took place, which left him doubting the integrity of those who are closest to him, he’s taken that term to a whole new dangerous level. Learning the hard way that life is too short for worries or work–and that women can’t be trusted–Logan has exchanged steady work for street racing. When Liv walks into his world, everything he thought he knew about life and women is challenged.

In The Fine Line, Liv and Logan will discover if it’s possible for true love to have a future, or if history is destined to repeat itself.

Review

What is there not to love about Fast Cars, So Co, Nitrous tanks, Virgins, Drugs and Guns in a story?  I’ll tell you what I didn’t love in this story and that was Liv – annoying, thick headed little “B” word.  She didn’t deserve Logan – he poured his soul out to her.  He put Liv on a pedestal and worshipped the ground she walked on – RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOUR FACE, LIV??? Do you need contacts?  Love was staring you in the face and if I had to hear you say “Just Friends” one more time….I was going to scream!

Ok…I’m done with my ranting.  I enjoyed the book immensely and I fell in love with Logan – he was the perfect boyfriend material who wore his heart on his sleeve when it came to Liv.  I understand her hesitancy in getting into a relationship but it was already there…the actions spoke louder than the words.  She felt the pull, she felt the loyalty, jealously, and love toward Logan – she just couldn’t speak the words.  She was only trying to fool herself and hurting Logan in the process.

It wasn’t until Liv finally tore down the walls built around her heart that I was huffing or puffing every time I heard “F-R-I-E-N-D-S”

Re-Cap

Liv stays single for one reason and one reason only…..abandonment.  She’s had a tough past between death, divorce and cheating.  When faced with that as a child growing up, it leaves scars on your heart and in your mind.

That is until she meets Logan – it may have only been a few minutes but both of them knew this was something special.  Logan works and lives at his uncle’s auto body shop and loves to restore cars along with “pimping” his ride out.  He races for money – that is illegally and learns that he can’t lose a race when Liv is the flag girl.

Logan has no problems telling Liv how he feels about her, but quickly learns that if he does…Liv goes running.  This is a “just friends” relationship or no relationship at all.  The two of them go through so much sexual tension and a roller-coaster ride full of tears and happiness.

What will happen when Logan finally lets it all out and tells Liv that he loves her?  What happens when Logan has to decide between street racing and Liv?

Hmmm? Wouldn’t you like to know!!

Wrap-Up

Join me in smacking Liv upside her head every time she backs away from Logan….cause I’m telling you girlie….if you don’t want him….I’ll take him off your hands! <3
