My heels click too loudly on the cement sidewalk. I’m moving fast. My fist tightens around the strap on my bag, and I pick up my already hurried pace. I shoot a quick look behind me. No one is there, but I know they are, watching me. My shoulders tighten like someone threw an ice cube down the back of my shirt. The Saturday night special in my purse should comfort me but it doesn’t; I can’t fire at shadows. I’m too nervous to even pull out my phone.

 

I know better than to be out on the streets at night even in a town where my dad is a Capo. I have never been afraid. I really haven’t had a reason to be. Best friends with the mob boss’s son, Antonio, my father a bad-ass enforcer for the Delisi family make it a no-brainer. Stay the fuck away from me.

 

Street and porch lights on symmetrical houses flit by, illuminating the cracked pavement then casting it into darkness. I’m two houses away and the pavement stretches before me like miles of empty wilderness. My breathing is labored. Echoing in my ears are abrupt huffs of air in tandem with rushing blood.

I run up the stairs and unlock the front door, throwing myself into the living room. I slam it behind me and click the lock. I turn, leaning up against it, exhausted. I kick off my shoes and slide down to the floor.

 

Why is this happening to me? This is destroying me. A tear pricks the corner of my eye. It is shredding me to pieces one eerie bit at a time. I realize paranoia is consuming me as I pull my legs up tight to my chest. I wrap my arms around them and bury my head. I have to tell someone. I will look weak, but I have to. I can’t take this anymore.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Amy Rachiele is a military spouse and brat who spent many years volunteering and on staff for the Army National Guard and Department of Veteran Affairs with family support, family readiness, as well as, families of the Fallen. Amy devoted 10 years to teaching at-risk students in the Providence School System. She holds a Master's degree from Rhode Island College in English and Secondary Education. She volunteers her time at the local library facilitating a writer’s group in the hope of inspiring other writers. Besides writing, she enjoys scrapbooking, sewing, and traveling. Mobster's Bones - Amy Rachiele I have really enjoyed this series! Since the kids are now older, this book was a bit darker (more violence). I really liked getting to see more of Alessandra! She has always been an interesting character to me so finally seeing her get her happy ending was nice. I am glad for Troy as well. I never liked Troy and Megan together but I am glad he finally got his happily ever after as well. The book is a fairly quick read too and while you could read it without having read the other books, I wouldn't. This is a great series that really has grown as the characters have. Book one starts when they are still in HS so the mob connection is really their parents. By this book, the boys are thoroughly immersed in the Mob world so its very interesting to see the difference.

This books wraps the story up nicely, but I felt it dragged in parts. I didn't feel this way about the other books. Also, and i think this was something wrong on Amazon's part, my copy had TONS of edits. Like, words were strikethrough and stuff like that. It made for an annoying read; but again, I don't think that was the authors fault. I haven't had something like that happen before with any book!

I am really liking this series. The romance is sweet and adorable. The suspense is great and the story moves along at a good pace! I like the characters; I like them even when they are doing bad things. Its a very well written book.

This was a cute, sweet romance despite the violence. I thought this was an interesting take on the mobster with a heart of gold story. I couldn't put it down!
