Blurb:
All you'll ever be is a pretty face...   Star running back Bruce “Bruiser” Mackey has heard those words his entire life, especially after his twin brother’s tragic accident. He might use his surfer-boy good looks to land lucrative endorsements for his secret charity, but he hates books being judged by their covers. Which is why it’s wrong that his friend MacKenzie Hernandez is intent on giving herself a makeover.   Sure, Mac and her father have been reeling financially since her brother disappeared three years ago, and Lumberjacks management gives an annual scholarship that might get her life back on track, but he can’t imagine anyone smarter, sexier, or more beautiful than Mac already is. He can’t keep his hands off her—and the more they spend time together, the less he wants to. She’s perfect as is. One way or another, he’ll make sure the team’s tomboy greenskeeper gets a full ride. And between the two of them, they can learn to accept what’s behind them and look downfield to a future full of win.

Review:

I have read only one other book in this series & that was book 3, Down by Contact. I meant to go back and read the first two, but then I opened my email and had a request to review Backfield in Motion. I WILL make it back to the first two, because I loved these two!

Bruce “Bruiser” Mackey is pretty much mistaken by society as a whole. I must admit; upon reading this book, I thought the exact same thing at first. All they see is a Pretty Boy Model who happens to be a sports star. What they failed to realize was money he made from endorsements and such went to a charity. On the outside - you see a pretty face and that is about it. What you don't realize is that once you peel away the face worthy of drooling, he is a deep soul; waiting to be able to show is true self to those who deserve him.

I love me some Mac. Mackensie is just like I was not too long ago. I was just like one of the boys. I could care less if I had grease on my face or if I preferred sneakers over heels. She's always had this little secret crush on Bruce. She does the best she can with the cards that she was dealt. She has a withdrawn father who would rather focus all his energies on finding her brother.

Backfield in Motion (Seattle Lumberjacks, #4)
Backfield in Motion (Seattle Lumberjacks... Backfield in Motion (Seattle Lumberjacks, #4) - Jami Davenport Seattle Lumberjack running back Bruce Mackey, aka Bruiser, is the face of the team. Not only is he a talented player but his pretty-boy looks get him endorsements left and right.

MacKenzie (Mac) Hernandez is the Lumberjacks greens keeper. The tomboy is considered one of the guys. She has had a secret crush on Bruiser for years.

Mac needs help getting the annual college scholarship awarded by Lumberjacks team. She needs to become more visible and get the attention of Veronica Simms, the team owner’s daughter. The only person Veronica seems to like is Bruce. His team mates talk Bruiser into accompanying Mac to the annual BBQ.

Bruiser and Mac might seem like a strange match, but in reality, they have a lot in common, including both being scarred with the deaths of their brothers.

Backfield in Motion is an endearing novel. Both characters suffer from a tragic past that leaves them not truly living in the future.

Jami Davenport wrote a wonderful story that I read in one sitting. This story has a little something for everyone: romance, sports, drama, mystery, and suspense.

ARC provided in exchange for an honest review.
