My Heart is an Idiot by Davy Rothbart
My Heart is an Idiot - Davy Rothbart

Read by Kim A: A collection of essays recounting the life experiences of the author, in particular his romantic pursuits and the characters that he encounters along the way. He lives quite a bohemian lifestyle and I liked the fact that he was so open to adventure and following strange paths as they opened up to him without hesitation.  For me the best feature of this book was the warmth and compassion with which he describes the characters. He meets people from very different circumstances to his own, who would often be stereotyped or marginalized for their traits, but Davy writes about them without judgment. Not everyone’s cup of tea but I really enjoyed it.

Dear Fatty by Dawn French
Dear Fatty - Dawn French

Read by Tiffany:  Laugh out loud funny in parts (probably helps that I can visualise and hear her performing the letters), desperately sad in others (her father's suicide shook her world to the core at the age of 19), somewhat uncomfortable in many (such as discussing how wonderful Lenny Henry is, given they are now divorced) . A lovely insight into a beautiful, funny, sweet lady.

The Valkyries by Paulo Coelho
The Valkyries - Paulo Coelho

Read by Kim A. – After the Alchemist I was inspired to read more of Paulo Coelho. Unfortunately this one wasn’t as good.  It was sometimes annoying reading about him in the 3rd person.  However, it has not put me off trying another work of fiction.
