Flashback Friday (a book you read a while ago and loved)
I chose If I Stay by Gayle Forman. I recently re-read this book because I plan to see the movie. I found this book relatable. It shows you how your life can change quickly and how one decision can affect your whole life. It's about a girl who has a great life, a good family, she's a talented musician, and she even has a boyfriend she adores. One day a sudden car accident leaves her in a coma with some huge decisions to make about what to do next.
Friday Favorites (a favorite book, cover, author...etc)
I chose Hemlock Grove by Brian McGreevey. This is the book I'm currently reading and would be on my list of top 10 favorite books ever. I love the story elements and seeing his own twist on them. I love the television show too which is where I first heard of this book. I think there are some flaws but the book is great overall. I highly recommend it. His writing voice is very unique and the characters are unique and I love it so much. It's a book about vampires and werewolves and Frankenstein creatures all together in this one high school. I first found out about this book while watching the series on Netflix. I recommend the television series as well. They do a great job sticking close to the book. The second season was released July 11th and with no second book to go off of, they have to make it up which should be interesting.
First Sentence Friday
The first real sentence of Hemlock Grove is: 'The night after the Harvest Moon, the body was discovered.'
Creepy, right? I love it!
The Friday 44 (turn to page 44 and choose a sentence that has an impact)
Here are two from Hemlock Grove:
"Today I have seen the dragon."
It's sort of a tagline said throughout the novel but I'm not going to give any spoilers.
And I liked this one...
'Roman attempted something like a smile, it was like lifting a thousand pounds overhead.'
It was a funny way of describing trying to smile when you don't feel like smiling.
Falling Behind Friday (a book that has been on your TBR shelf forever)
I chose The Ghost and the Goth by Stacey Kade because it has been waiting forever and I'm going to read it next after what I'm currently reading. I got it on sale and decided to give it a chance though it was more girly than I usually like to read. It's about a popular girl who becomes a ghost and the only one who can see her is this goth boy. The end up falling in love.
