Dobre to było, choć miałem chwile zwątpienia i przeczytanie zajęło mi trochę czasu. Okazuje się jednak, że to jest ten typ książki, który dużo zyskuje na swoim zakończeniu, sprawiającym, że historia staje się dużo bardziej emocjonująca i... urocza.

Oprócz stałych elementów, takich jak oryginalny świat oraz fascynujący i przerażający zarazem system magiczny, w ostatnich latach coraz bardziej widzę jeszcze jeden aspekt, w którym Brandon Sanderson pokazuje swoją siłę: oryginalność w tworzeniu grupy bohaterów drugoplanowych, opisywanie ich specyficznych charakterów i interakcji pomiędzy nimi. Ludzie o różnych osobowościach, często przypadkowo zebrani razem, wraz z rozwojem fabuły zaczynają tworzyć zgrany zespół, który dzięki połączeniu sił jest zdolny dokonać wszystkiego. Kaladin i Most Czwarty, Spensa i jej ekipa (w każdym tomie inna!) - wszędzie tam ten motyw się powtarza. I wszędzie stanowi mocną stronę powieści. A tutaj jeszcze dodatkowo miesza się z motywami pirackimi!

Hoid jako narrator sprawdza się całkiem fajnie - jego wtrącenia ubarwiają i uzupełniają opowieść. Nawet sam moment, w którym dowiadujemy się, że to on opowiada tę historię i jednocześnie w niej występuje jako postać drugoplanowa, wprowadza dość oryginalną mieszankę narracji trzecioosobowej z pierwszoosobową. Trochę bym się tylko przyczepił do humoru związanego z klątwą Hoida – no, tutaj powiedziałbym, że Brandon balansuje na krawędzi... Taki humor to nie dla mnie jednak.

Nie mogę też nie wspomnieć o szczurze. Więc wspominam, nie wchodząc w szczegóły. Występuje tu szczur. Gadający. Ma on zdecydowanie niemały wpływ na wspomniany już urok tej opowieści. Sami zobaczycie.

Oczywiście jest też trochę smaczków cosmerowych (zaraz lecę przeglądać sieć, by sprawdzić, co jeszcze przegapiłem), a nawet nasuwa się w tym kontekście pytanie, komu jest ta historia opowiadana i kiedy się ona dzieje na osi czasu cosmere...

Polecam, warto przeczytać, widać, że to taki "bezstresowy" projekt, w którym autor robi, co chce, a jednocześnie w inny, odświeżający sposób podchodzi do swojej prozy.

The Story:

The conclusion of a whirlwind of a tale of three young ladies chosen to give up their common lives and trained to become wives of wealthy gentlemen in a new land. Tamsin, the third in the trilogy, goes through enough to have lived 6 lives. Starting with her keeping a huge secret from the girls in the court and a shipwreck and taking her through an unbelievable series of events.

This is an excellent story of adventure in a strange land and wraps up with a happy ending.
