Hades and Persephone done right.
Hot as Hades - Alisha Rai

Nevermind the the rating—that just shows how little erotic romance works for me these days—and read this for the one adaptation of the myth that actually works!

Granted, the ones I've tried before (or wanted to) were crappy YA attempts to erase the problems without addressing the passiveness of Persephone being a pawn in a game between Demeter and Hades. No such problems here. Also, no incest.

Read it for the retelling if not the hot sex. Text includes both.

This feels like...
Blood & Circuses - Manna Francis

The main story and the Toreth & Warrick bits would've earned a higher rating, but the B-C lead investigation confused me. (I'm pretty sure the author forgot the history she created for the character earlier.)

I don't know what to do with myself now. Sit on hands and wait for the next story? Sounds plausible.

Reading progress update: I've read 71%.
The Deal (Off-Campus Book 1) - Elle Kennedy

Warning: This book includes racial stereotyping as both first person voice narrators mention how a musically talented black man should be playing American football. Also, one of them refers to said big black man as a monster.

Reading progress update: I've read 8%.
The Deal (Off-Campus Book 1) - Elle Kennedy

Shows how much I pay attention: I've mixed my sports hockey ≠ American football.

Other than that. This is making me... nope:

"Me: U don't have to text me at all. Actually, I'd prefer if u didn't.

Him: What'll it take to get u to say yes?

Me: Absolutely nothing.

Him: Great. So you'll do it for free.

...

Me: Not happening.

Him: How bout tmrw night? I'm free at eight."

Learn to take no for an answer, dude.

Random thought 2:
The Deal (Off-Campus Book 1) - Elle Kennedy

I really, really don't want Hannah to be defined by her rape, but here we go...
