These Happy Golden Years (Little House)
These Happy Golden Years - Garth Williams,Laura Ingalls Wilder I finished up my reread of this series today. It's just comforting, to read those old childhood favorites with new eyes. My heart still skips a beat when Almanzo asks Laura if he can see her home that first time! I still get scared with Laura during her first teaching job (how awful was that Mrs Brewster?!)

I chalk a lot of how good I did in certain classes in school to stories like these, and wish more kids today were still reading them.

Day 10: A Book that Reminds You of Home

For this challenge I went the nostalgia route. I read this entire series as a child at prompting of my mother and loved them. I don't remember many specifics since it has been a long time, but seeing this series does remind me of home in a way.

These Happy Golden Years - Garth Williams,Laura Ingalls Wilder I love all of Laura's books, but if I had to choose a favourite, it would probably be this one. It picks up exactly where "Little Town..." leaves off and describes Laura's life now that she's suddenly a grown-up school teacher. I couldn't imagine teaching school at an age where I still ought to GO to school! It's fascinating. And the courtship between her and Almanzo is just adorable. I always finish this book with a content sigh :)
