A Long Way Gone: Memoirs of a Boy Soldier
A Long Way Gone - Ishmael Beah A gripping biography. It's unreal what Beah experienced in Sierra Leone as a child, not to mention the many other children there... I am glad something good has come out of his experiences-- or one can hope with the way my country (or the UN) determines its wars and tragedies, it's never that simple.

The War of the World
The War of the World - Niall Ferguson I have read loads about WWII, and a fair amount about 20th century history, but this got me to rethink a lot of it. He is perhaps too focused on economics and there were a surprisingly large number of typos (though I got the gist). His sense of humour certainly helps things, and he doesn't pull punches when he thinks someone (or some institution) failed. Overall, it is definitely well worth the time.
