Today I Feel Silly...and Other Moods That Make My Day
Today I Feel Silly: And Other Moods That Make My Day - Jamie Lee Curtis,Laura Cornell

This book is all about the different moods that a person has and is showed through a child. The little girl in the story has different things going on in her life and each new thing gives her a different emotion. These emotions are felt by everyone at some point or another and are great to be discussed in the classroom to let children know that emotions are a normal part of life.

After reading this story, the teacher could make a chart and ask students to write down things that make them feel a certain way and record it on the chart so that students can see that different things make people feel different ways. The most important part of this story is to show that not everyone reacts the same way to the same situation. Everyone is different and each person should be accepted.

Today I Feel Silly and Other Moods That Make My Day
Today I Feel Silly: And Other Moods That Make My Day - Jamie Lee Curtis,Laura Cornell

Today I Feel Silly and Other Moods That Make My Day by Jamie Lee Curtis is a picture book about a young girl experiencing many types of emotions.  Each page explains an emotion she is feeling and why. The emotions and moods range from silly, excited, and happy to sad, angry, and discouraged.  The book ends with saying that it is okay to have any of these feelings inside.  Today I Feel Silly is a great book for exploring all different kinds of feelings that students might have felt, but never knew what it was called.  Students could write about an emotion they have felt before and describe what it felt like.  In addition, teacher could integrate music with this lesson by associating musical instruments to specific emotions, like drums to angry and maracas to happy. The reading level for this book is 490L (2nd Grade) according to Lexile Leveling.

Women who Love Monsters by Lori Perkins
Women Who Love Monsters - Cynthia Ward,Katherine Ramsland,Laura Antoniou,Jennifer M. Bay-Williams,Cecilia Minden,Stanley G. Webb,Alfonso Gambardella,Trinity Blacio,Jamie K. Schmidt,Amy Stilgenbauer,Nathan Pettigrew,Jeffrey Archer,Truth Venson

I received this ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

A great book with many little stories from different authors. A few stories I was drawn to more than others while some I just did not care for. A few I hope will become actual novels like The Beast, The Vampire's Heart, The Ripper Letter.

This book did a wonderful job with listing the stories by which author so you can easily navigate to whom you wanted to read or just read from cover to cover. Very short excerpts, stories, chapters of the book, and so forth that kept things on their toes but these 13 women sure stepped out of their comfort zone to see what it is like to love a monster.

Today I Feel Silly: And Other Moods That Make My Day - Jamie Lee Curtis,Laura Cornell

Reading Level: K-2 and Lexile Level: 250L

This book book is about a little girl who encounter different emotions. I think this is a great book for children because it teaches them about the different emotions people deal with daily and it also shows them the proper way to handle each emotion. In my future classroom I would probably do a read aloud to my students. I would have them draw themselves showing an emotion and then ask them to explain to me in a few sentences how they felt when they had that emotion.

Today I Feel Silly: And Other Moods That Make My Day - Jamie Lee Curtis,Laura Cornell

Today I Feel Silly and Other Moods That Make My Day by Jamie Lee Curtis is a cute book about a little girl and all of the different moods that she has. It is bright and colorful and at the end of the story it has a picture of the girls face and then little dials that allow the reader to change her facial expressions/moods. This was one of my all time favorite stories when I was little because of how fun the story was! I think this is a great book for children because it teaches them about the different emotions people deal with daily and it also shows them the proper way to handle each emotion. If I were to use this book in my future classroom I would probably do a read aloud to my students and have them show me which emotion the little girl is feeling with different emojis I have given them. After that I would have them draw themselves showing a particular emotion and then ask them to explain to me in a few sentences how they felt when they had that emotion.
