quote 2016-02-05 22:33
Your religious beliefs are your business. They are not and should not be the basis for law. If you use them as justification to discriminate against others, don’t be upset when others decide you’re an asshole.

...But “I worked hard on this” doesn’t exempt you from criticism. Those harsh reviews aren’t about anyone being out to get me. It’s not an Authors vs. Reviewers thing. It’s people taking the time to express their opinions because they care about this stuff...

quote 2013-12-06 19:51
"This bugs me a lot. It resonates with the dynamics I’ve seen in abusive families, where the most serious crime isn’t the abuse, but talking about the abuse outside of the family. So yeah, this hits a big old button for me."

—author Jim C. Hines at http://www.jimchines.com/2013/12/recruiter-of-poc/

...in response to accusations that his posts against rape and sexual, gender or racial harassment—plus asking fandom conventions to have clear policies in place—are a misuse of his influence in social media; that instead he should shut up about the issues and instead put a positive spin on conventions to lure encourage more women and minorities to be targets attend and be put down or drowned out on panels participate.

Gee, guess he should stop being a mean bully ... *gag* ... where are these better to keep it nice than actually handle the issues creeps coming from?  Guess they don't feel he had any right to use his voice on social media to do fundraisers for RAINN or other organizations as a part of some of his social media posts.

It's a good day to grab my sunspot deprived kitties and a good book and unplug.

Personally, Mr. Hines, you are a good man and I encourage your efforts.  The quality/attitudes of those against you speaks eloquently to that.

Layover. Goblin managed to get back on the wing and held on, with a little help. It's our worst nightmare: goblins with duct tape.
