My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Audio Review: Game for Tonight (Game for It) by Karen Erickson, Narrated by Cassandra Myles

Have always been a fan of Karen Erickson. No one does sassy and sensual like she does. However, Erickson in audio is a new experience for me. Myles turns Aubrey Cooper into a lively firecracker that knows how to make an impression. Add in an alpha in training and the flickering of sparks become a full formed flame. Game for Tonight is a spicy temptation that gives the heart and senses quite a workout.

Ignite
Ignite - Karen Erickson Ignite - Karen Erickson

I grabbed this book awhile ago because lots of people raved about it. I'm not sure what I expected, but I thought it would be more...suspenseful? I'm not sure. Ignite is a small town, second chance romance that was a bit boring really.

West bolted out of his tiny hometown the minute he could, but the night before he took off he engaged in a hot make out session with his sister's best friend, Harper. Needless to say when she found out he left town the next day, her pride and heart were battered. Years later, West is back. His plan is to only be back temporarily until he gets a promotion and can move on to bigger and better things. Harper is still living in the town, and after some shake ups in her life, working for her grandmother at the restaurant she owns. West still has the hots for Harper, and I was a little disappointed and how quickly Harper fell for him again. She was rude to him once, then was falling all over him! Have some pride, woman!

West is pretty self centered. He doesn't care that his leaving town hurt his family. He only cares about moving up the ladder and becoming a big wig in the fire fighter world. Harper is lost. She doesn't have a place to live after breaking up with her boyfriend, and since he was also her boss, she doesn't have a job until she starts working for her grandmother. I wanted to like Harper because she is sweet and kind, but she is kind of a doormat. I expected this to be an enemies to lovers but Harper keeps going back to him every time he says or does something stupid! It was maddening.

I almost DNF'ed this book a couple times. Not because it was bad, but because I just didn't care. I think that is almost worse than a bad book. At least a bad book makes me feel something. Ignite made me feel almost nothing. At 50%, I threw in the towel.

  • POV: 3rd
  • Tears: no
  • Trope: small town, second chance, firefighter, best friend's brother
  • Triggers: none
  • Series/Standalone: stand alone
  • Cliffhanger: I don't think so, but again, I didn't get that far
  • HEA: Frankly, I don't see these 2 being together as an HEA but whatever

Until Sage by Aurora Rose Reynolds, Hawke by Sawyer Bennett, Where I belong by J. Daniels...then you will probably like Ignite!

Worth the Scandal - Karen Erickson

All’s fair in love and business…

Alexander Worth has two great passions—his family business, and his control. Being president and CEO of Worth Luxury Goods allows him to exercise both. No one crosses him.

But then Tessa Crawford crosses his path. She’s professional, shy, voluptuous—and his employee. His legendary control is all that’s holding him back from his desire for her. Risking the business is the one thing he can’t do.

After rising above her disadvantaged childhood, Tessa knows the last thing she should do is risk throwing it all away by falling into bed with her sexy boss. But on an extended European business trip, all self-imposed barriers burn away in the heat of their sizzling chemistry.

That’s not the only fire burning when they return home—whispers of corporate espionage have become a full-blown scandal. Alex’s loyalties lie with his company, and Tessa is left to smolder alone. She’s determined to move on, to get over her fling—

Only she’s carrying a souvenir in her belly.

Worth the Scandal (Worth It #1) by Karen Erickson
Worth the Scandal - Karen Erickson
I really enjoyed this book and if you want a hot and steamy romance with an alpha male then you won't be disappointed. The story itself has been written before, after all, boss and secretary! But I loved the twist with the insider mole and the storyline that went with it.

Every girl, at some point in her life, has dreamed of being swept of her feet by a dreamy prince, even if she dreamed of it when she was 7. This book tells the tale of it happening to someone older but you can still lose yourself within the story.

Loved it and am looking forward to getting the rest in the series.
